The Wonderful Start – End Of The Wedding Cake Topper World

August 27th, 2010

So you are considering purchasing a wedding cake topper for your fantastic wedding cake. Toppers are certainly a trendy product these days. For example, consider the following keyword phrases that people are keying into the various search engines:

funny wedding cake toppers cheap wedding cake toppers beach wedding cake toppers funny wedding cake topper african american wedding cake toppers bride and groom wedding cake topper fun wedding cake toppers heart wedding cake toppers dove wedding cake toppers monogrammed wedding cake toppers cut wedding cake toppers contemporary wedding cake toppers inexpensive wedding cake toppers best wedding cake toppers

Just what are wedding cake toppers anyway? What a great question. Not many people know what toppers are, but they are those petite “figures” or “statues” that exist on top of the tiered wedding cake. They seem to yell out “Notice Me…I’m Something Special…I Matter!”. From their very humble beginnings there is a great variety of wedding cake toppers available in the marketplace today. Let us spend a few seconds learning their story…

A Brief History of the Topper

Now that we are done with our formal description, let us turn our attention to the history. Although no records exist of the very first time that an individual put a tiny little figure on top of a wedding cake, a number of traditions do exist. One of the most popular traditions out there these days states that a bride was engaged and getting married, and she was trying to determine some way in which she could exhibit the extreme love that she and her husband to be shared for one another. Her dad happened to be a baker, and she gave him a task. Being a baker he obviously baked a wedding cake, but he added a little something to the top of the wedding cake. He positioned a model of his daughter and future son-in-law on on the top of the wedding cake. This was to show off the extreme love that these two young people shared for each other as they started their new life together.

Is this an actual story? Perhaps. Is it fictional? It could be. Does it foreshadow the prominence that the cake topper would have on not only the wedding cake but the big day? Undoubtably. This simple baker of cakes probably had no idea what a revolution he had started. What we now call the wedding day would never be the same again…

Let’s Look At The 1950’s

When you think of the 50’s what do you think? The King (Elvis) and Good ole’ & Roll right? Well wedding cake toppers were about to become much more popular than ever during these years as soldiers returning from WWII started to settle down and raise families.

More Popular Than Ever

Today we see that toppers are very popular. Models have changed somewhat to reflect changes, but they are still popular none-the-less. Today you can get wedding cake toppers that depict mixed race marriages, as well as same-sex marriages as well. Many traditional wedding cake toppers are being purchased these days. One model in particular depicts the bride grabbing her hapless groom by the back of the shirt…preventing him from running away from the altar. Another depicts her dragging him back to the minister after he has run off. Some wedding cake toppers even depict the types of hobbies that the happy couple can enjoy.

In Conclusion

Wedding Planning Advice – Top Five Ways To Have A Stress-free Wedding

August 25th, 2010

Stress and weddings seem to go hand in hand. There are so many small details to look after, so many decisions to make. Everyone wants a say in how you do it. So how do you get through it all with stress? It’s pretty simple. Just decide not to let yourself get stressed out.

A wedding is more than just the day. It’s hard to enjoy something that has been a source or stress or frustration for close to a year. Even if everything else goes right, the bride might not be able to enjoy the process as much as she should. So here are a few thoughts on how to enjoy the process and not get overwhelmed or stressed out.

1. Have the Right Attitude. Happy people have happy weddings. Stressed out people have stressful weddings. It’s important to see the wedding in context of your life. This will be a fabulous, romantic, extraordinary wedding as long as that’s how you view it. Your feelings are transferred to your family, friends and guests. Getting frustrated by every little detail is going to leave you feeling frustrated with the whole planning process and when your wedding day comes, you will be so focused on everything that’s not perfect, you won’t be able to enjoy all the beautiful, perfect moments that are happening around you. Don’t sweat the little stuff. Stay focused on taking care of yourself so you can enjoy the big day.

2. Decide on a Budget. Have a get-together with everyone involved in deciding your budget. This may include you and your fiance, or the bride’s parents or both sets of parents. Do some research before the meeting of what the ballpark range might be for the budget, then discuss. Once the budget is set, even if it is lower than you had hoped for, embrace your budget. Know that is what you have to work with and go forward making your decisions based on that. This may push you to find new and unique venues or party favors you wouldn’t otherwise have found.

3. Remember the Love. You are getting married because you are in love. Keep that in mind when you ask your husband-to-be if he would prefer a brown and blue color scheme or a burnt orange, scarlet and fuchsia color scheme, and are given the response ‘whatever makes you happy.’ Is it that he doesn’t care? He probably doesn’t care what the colors are as long as you are happy and in the end. That’s all that matters. Men don’t’ dream about the perfect wedding. They do dream about a life of loving you. So know he loves you and take it easy on him. If he wants you to be happy then make the decisions that will make you happy. Call a girlfriend and get her opinion and know at the end of the day he loves you and you love him. If you really need help, sit him down and let him know that this is important to you and odds are, he’ll listen and help to the best of his ability.

4. First Thought Best Thought. When you make a decision, let that be it. Don’t second-guess yourself. Once you’ve decided, then go to the next decision otherwise you will make yourself crazy. There are so many options for dresses, hair, table settings and more. You know what you like, so go for it and don’t waste time with regrets.

5. Setting the Tone for the Family. Families are an important part of any wedding celebration. It is a time for the bride to forget about past differences and be gracious, loving, thoughtful and caring. Choose to be the mature one and people’s responses will mirror yours. Even if they don’t you can be satisfied knowing you took the high road. This may mean offering a hug to your father’s second wife who is two years younger than you and complimenting her dress. The more love you give, the more you will receive.

Despite this advice, there will probably be times during the wedding planning process that you are stressed out. Don’t dwell on those moments. Get past them as quickly as you can and don’t look back. Focus on the positive incredible moments that are happening. Look to your bridesmaids and loved ones and feel their love and enjoy it. This is your wedding, your life and your future. Set the tone for it without stress

Some Of The Weirdest Wedding Gifts

August 21st, 2010

When a happy couple ties the knot it is tradition for guests, friends and family to give them a gift to help them in their lives together. Traditionally this would have consisted of silverware, furniture and other useful household items as a married couple would not live together until going through the nuptials.

These days things are a little different as many couples live together long before getting married and wedding gifts are now often something quirky or luxury, not necessities. But not everyone is great at giving gifts, here are some of the more unusual items couples received on their special day but probably didn’t like as much as the spa vouchers.

Everyone loves one of those 3D pictures, the type you have to stare into for a while before you discover a vague shape lurking amongst the migraine-inducing mess of colours and patterns. But a New York couple were left behind in the second dimension after an estranged relative gave them a 6ft 3D canvas painting, strangely depicting a horse’s head, which was somehow supposed to fit neatly in their tiny one bedroom Manhattan apartment, the couple swiftly left the art piece to the next art lover to pass it by on the street corner.

However confusing, most gifts are given with the best meaning in mind, however some are no; In Spain, a bitter women-turned stalker who was not actually invited to the wedding of her ex-boyfriend, sent the couple a gift wrapped box, the box contained a handgun, a single bullet and a note reading “for when you are ready to get rid of her.” They made us of the gun by keeping it for protection in their new house and in their first week together they heard an intruder downstairs, the husband quickly reached for the gun and shot into the dark, instantly killing the trespasser who ironically turned out to be the disturbed ex-partner who had given them the gun in the first place.

For a safe bet, many people give new kitchen appliances as wedding gifts, which is fine as long as several of you don’t end up buying the same thing. A couple in California were a little confused when they received the entire range of George Forman cooking grills, but even more confusing was that they were from the same person. As it turns out the apparently generous guest was the owner of a electrical store that had started selling the grills and since he bought them at a relatively low cost price, felt rather cheap giving just one, so to appear generous, he individually wrapped each of the twelve grills of various shapes and sizes. The couple were very grateful as they made use of several of the grills and gave away the rest at Christmas, birthdays and as other wedding gifts for the next year.

What are the most unusual gifts and novelty gifts you have received for a wedding or any other event?

A Useful Advice For Your Groom Speech

August 6th, 2010

You want your groom speech to be memorable, vibrant, and humorous but you don’t know what’s coming from the other speeches. This one tip can save you from the worse groom speeches ever listed and put you one the best listed groom speeches.

Since you want to start off your marriage right, you don’t want to start off with a poor wedding speech. The key to good groom speeches is to prepare and practice. Since you can’t practice because you don’t know what everyone is going to say, you have to prepare a speech that works off other wedding speeches. That takes practice using improv methods, much like comedians use in there stand-up acts.

Improv helps the memory to retain information but that doesn’t mean groom speeches will sound like a comedy act. It gives you the ability to remember what others said during their speech so you can use it in your speech. It’s more than a fill in the blanks type speech.

With a little bit of practice you can learn the art of improvising. It does take daily practice but after a couple of weeks you’ll have it down pat. It takes daily practice but you know you have time before the wedding. You can do the same exercises the pros do so you can improvise during your wedding speech.

Get your best man and friends or family to help you out. The exercise is easy. Choose one word from a sentence and create a story around it. You can do it aloud or just think about it in your mind. Be sure the story flows correctly then takes it into another story. The more you do this the easier it will be. After your groom speech you’ll have an added skill for any tight situation. The wedding guests will remember your speech and words rather than a speech that a lot of ‘ahhhs’ and ‘ummms’ in it.

It’s a matter of training your mind. If you start doing this up until the wedding every day then you won’t have any problems with your wedding speech. If you don’t practice everyday then you might want to use a notepad and keep notes of what was said during the speeches.

A groom speech is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, it’s one of those things you can’t get out of, so, you might as well be prepared for it, and practicing every day will give you a head start on all other grooms.
