Are Wedding Flowers a Waste?

Weddings are beautiful occasions as we all very well know. Flowers have always been a staple of weddings every where but the new trend is to go flowerless. Some feel they are too expensive and carry with it an air of superiority. A lot of Brides and Grooms are now deciding to spend the money they would have for flowers on the food or entertainment, a final way of unwinding or using it toward the honeymoon. It’s no joke that the cost of wedding flowers could pay for the down payment on a modest home in the country.

One can not deny the beauty and gasp of your guests as they walk into a beautifully decorated chapel. White tapestries hanging from the walls, flower bundle of white on the pews with white linens cascading from them with bushels of white and pink roses as well as other colorful mixtures lining the walls culminating into an enormous display by the altar. It can be simply gorgeous and spectacular to view.

When the wedding is over what on Earth do you do with all of it? If you have flower centerpieces you have to deal with getting rid of those too. You’ve spent thousands on the flowers for the reception and wedding and throwing them away just is not practical. You can’t write them off on taxes so there is little point to just putting them into a dumpster and you can’t return them either.

You can give the gift of flowers to your guests. You will find them fighting over them anyway and if you would just toss them into the rubbish bin then why not just let them take them? You certainly have more than you can shake a stick at. Your guests will be very appreciative of the gift to them.

Another alternative to the tossing away of petals is to donate them. If you have a lot of bouquet’s leftover you could donate them to a retirement home to distribute to their inhabitants. You can also give them to a hospital for the same reason. Another idea would be to give them to your local Veteran’s Hospital or Veteran’s Center. They can give them out to the ailing soldiers or place them onto grave sites. Either way you’ll be bringing a smile to someone’s face who could use it or paying respect to our servicemen and you won’t be wasting all those flowers or money.

There is a new trend that you may be able to jump onto the bandwagon of with that being flower rental. Some flower dealers will allow you to rent arrangements. They set up one two weddings a day and can schedule between them. If you’re wedding begins at noon it should go to two and the other wedding will probably begin at four so plenty of time for the flowers to be packed up and moved. With proper care and handling the same arrangements, with little modification or replacement, can be used for up to four or six weddings spanning three days.

In the end flowers are a staple of all weddings. You can be very modest with your displays or you could be very extravagant. Without your arrangements being a waste and having them all die you can give them away to share a small part of your joy with others which will continue to give you warm and fuzzy feelings inside your soul but for a whole other reason then getting married.
